Edublogs News - Work with Edublogs as our Marketing Magician

We're looking for a Marketing Magician!

Are you a talented writer and proven marketer who would like to work from home with the team from the webs leading educational blogging provider?

If so, you might be interested in our latest position opening,
Marketing Magician @ Edublogs!

Essentially we're planning on taking a step up in 2010 and beyond, and to help us do that we're after a special someone to lead the way when it comes to telling the world who we are.

We're looking for a person who can write great copy - be it for our main site, blog posts, email newsletters, sales emails, tweets and more.

And, equally importantly, we're looking for that person to be full of enthusiasm, drive and ideas for how to promote Edublogs around the web and into school districts, colleges and classrooms.

And to carry out those ideas to fruition!

Experience / Qualifications

To fit this role you'll have to be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding writing skills in pretty much every online medium
  • Previous (impressive) experience in driving sales and awareness
You'll also be happy to take a look at our site, http://edublogs.org, and tell us:
  • One thing we're missing (what do we need to add)
  • One thing we can get rid of (what's superfluous or annoying)
  • One thing we can most improve (and, briefly, how)
You'll also be happy to work from home, manage your time accordingly, be independent, able to take the lead and be seriously ambitious.

Conditions

We're happy to offer the right person an attractive package complete with flexible holidays, performance bonuses and the opportunity to lead up this area of Edublogs down the track.

Apply

Email contact@edublogs.org with your CV, samples of your work, experience and mini critique of our main site. You're also welcome to let us know any questions you might have about the role.

We'll take a look and, if it all stacks up do an email / IM / Skype based interview (in more-or-less that order).

We're advertising this position to members of Edublogs, as well as around the web, but it would be unreal if an existing user of the site met our requirements... so if you're looking to work with an exciting group of people in a really interesting role, we'd love to hear from you.

Here's the application form again, in easily printable pdf form, please feel free to pass it on to anyone you feel might fit the role too: http://edublogs.org/files/2010/02/Marketing_Magician_Edublogs.pdf

Cheers,

James Farmer
CEO, Edublogs

"I Would Never Be Friends With A Black Person"

One day, it was a Wednesday as I recall, I was sitting in chemistry class, filling out a lovely worksheet on gas laws. My table partners, Landry, Chris H, and Brandon seemed too occupied in some odd conversations about friendships to realize that the blank worksheets resting on their desks are due by the end of the period.

As soon as I found that the pressure equals to 4.91 atmospheres, at the glory of my founding, I listened in on the boys’ conversation. However, I listened in at the wrong part.

“I would never be friends with a black person,” Brandon proudly and cockily states.

The Latest Proof That The World is Insane: The Tiger Woods News Conference
Whether or not you're a fan or enemy of Tiger Woods, if you perused any, and I mean ANY media outlets, there was no escaping his planned announcement for today. It was talked about on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, AP newswire, even NPR, and a myriad of online information sites.

Now his speech/apology is being played around the world. They even noted that trading in the Stock Market slowed down while the speech was on live.

Since I haven't heard anyone say it - let me be the first: More Here...

The monogamy gene revisited
Due to the overwhelming and controversial response to my last entry on the monogamy gene, I decided to do a follow up for clarification.

Apparently, the notion that fidelity is something predetermined seemed to set people off. The idea that it's genetics that decide whether we stray or remain faithful wasn't very sound to many people. If you're at all into science jargon,
take a gander and express your opinion to me! More Here...

Snooping: It May Not Be What You Think
A friend of mine recently wrote a post about parents snooping in their kids' rooms. Her view of it varies greatly from mine, so I thought I'd add my two-cents in. You see, we have different experiences when it comes to parental snooping. And although my opinion is different now, I once was in exactly the same place as her. More Here...

When Low Self-Esteem Goes Public

For those of you who don't have a Facebook account, there's a thing called status updates where you can write anything you want.  People usually write where they are, what they're feeling, and vague emo statements. There is a Facebook "friend" I have that updates every other day, and this person's statuses all go something like:
